Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose loose leaf instead of tea bags?

Loose-leaf teas and tisanes are often much higher in quality because the leaves have not been broken down to fit into a tea bag; they retain much more of their nutritional value, smell, and flavor.

Using loose-leaf teas and tisanes also gives the brewer control over the quantity of leaves they want to use, making it more or less concentrated to suit individual taste and flavor preferences.

Because loose leaf tea uses less packaging, it is more environmentally friendly and unfortunately many tea bags are bleached or made from unhealthy materials.

Lastly, we prefer the lifestyle of using loose leaves, for all the reasons listed above, as well as the simpler, slower, and more reflective pace it encourages. Though there may be a learning curve at first, it really is quite easy, and we are here to help!

How to use loose-leaf herbal tisanes and teas.

There are many different ways to brew loose-leaf teas and tisanes. A few of the ways are tea balls that can be put directly into a mug to steep, small tea pots that have a variety of different built-in strainers, or gaiwans (Chinese for "bowl with a lid"). We encourage people to explore the plethora of different possibilities and try them out to see what works best for them.
